Quality Time For Each other

Cara Farrell • Mar 02, 2023

Many times as expectant mothers, people say, "when your child is born, cherish the time because it goes by so quickly." or "they grow so fast," but it isn't until we are actually in the thick of things that we understand what they meant.

One minute you are laughing and enjoying your sonogram, then they are born, next crawling, walking, and then BOOM, graduation, and college. Well, not exactly that fast, but you get the drift.

With all of these critical milestones coming at parents so fast, it's easy to get caught up in the rip and roar of adjusting to everyday life, so inevitably, for new and veteran parents, your family dynamic changes.

Because of these adjustments, we often stop paying attention to each other and showing affection for each other. This can lead to frustration and emotional, intellectual, and physical separation.

So how do we stop this from happening? Make quality time for each other.

Have you ever heard of the 2-2-2 Rule? No? Well, here it is.

The 2-2-2 Rule states that you and your partner have a date night every two weeks spend a weekend away every two months, and take a two-week vacation together every two years. While this may not be achievable for all because of the lack of family support, finances, or other possible circumstances, it is still essential for parents to spend quality time together ALONE!

Don't worry if you can't commit to the 2-2-2 Rule; you can still make time for each other, even once a month.

Numerous studies have shown that parents who stick to the commitment of date nights have stronger relationships, communicate more effectively, and are more romantic.

Below are Ten Fun Date Night Ideas:

  • Watch the sunset or sunrise
  • Enjoy nature and hiking together
  • Go Camping
  • Go to breakfast (it is usually less expensive than dinner)
  • Candlelight dinner at home (make sure that your little one is somewhere else with someone that you trust)
  • Play Couple's Truth or Dare
  • Paint Night
  • Have a Spa Night
  • Take a Day Trip
  • Get Dinner and a Movie, and end the night with a romantic playlist that was made just for your special night together.

Because we believe that quality time is important, this month at Fetal Photos by Cara, we are raffling off a basket of date nights just for you.
